Age 73 of Plainfield, Illinois, formerly of the Brighten Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side of Chicago, died Sunday, July 30, 2023 in Plainfield.
Born March 12, 1950 in Chicago, Joyce Marie was a daughter of Edward and LaVerne (Cloutier) Verdone. She was raised and educated in Chicago and graduated from Kelly High School with the Class of 1967. Joyce was employed as a bookkeeper by V. Seng Teaming Co. in Elk Grove, Illinois for over 25 years until she retired, and was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Plainfield.
She was a wonderful mother, always making her children her priority. When her children were young, Joyce was always a reliable volunteer for any school activity and also as a scout mom. She had a strong work ethic and was a giving person, almost to a fault. She devoted her life to being of help to others and will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two children: Melissa George and Mark Maciejewski; five grandchildren: Emma, Grant, and Ava George and Nella and Edward Maciejewski; one brother, Edward (Theresa) Verdone, and one sister, Sandra (Chuck) Bjerke; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Craig Verdone.
Per Joyce’s wishes, cremation rites are being accorded and there will be no services at this time.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Joyce’s memory to: The American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, Maryland 20852.
