Age 79 of Wilmington, Illinois died Thursday, February 22, 2024 at The Citadel in Kankakee, Illinois.
Born March 4, 1944 in Joliet, Judith Helen was a daughter of Thomas and Helen (Piersing) Long. She was raised in Wilmington, graduated from Wilmington High School, and on July 29, 1967, she married Dale Frank Friddle.
Judy worked for the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant in Joliet until she went to work for her brother’s business, Braun Sales, in Wilmington where she was a book keeper for many years. She also worked for Long Concrete and as an assistant manager at the Dollar General in Braidwood.
Judy took great pleasure in solving her puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, and crocheting. But her happiest times were spent with her family. Judy was a devoted mother to her children and she especially loved being grandma to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Julie (Scott) Wenstrom of Durand, Illinois, John (Glenda) Schmalz of Town Creek, Alabama, Dana (Jeff) Dunkin of Coal City, Illinois, and Jaymie (Dan) Rickmon of Wilmington; ten grandchildren: Trevor (Sara) Deppe, Hunter Wenstrom, John Schmalz, Joshua Schmalz, Cory (Brittany) Dunkin, Lucas Dunkin, Miranda Rickmon, Morgan (Luis) Baeza, Tyler Rickmon, and Nolan Rickmon; eight great grandchildren: Riley, Aubrey, Parker, Dale, Paisley, Ellyana, Aria, and Baby Girl Baeza; four sisters-in-law: Melva “Sis” (the late Duane) McCarville, Mary (the late Bob) Hairald, Karen Friddle, and Kathleen Friddle; two brothers-in-law: Charlie Friddle and Don (the late JoAnn) Friddle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas “Barney” and Helen Long; her husband, Dale Friddle in 2007; her brother, John (Karen) Long; one nephew, Tim Long; special aunt, Elsie Baldacci; and one sister-in-law, Faye Hansen.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Harriette Cross officiating.
Interment will follow the services at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood where Judy will be laid to rest with her husband, Dale.
