June Erway Brownlee

Age 97 of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, February 05, 2020 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born June 25, 1922 in Elmira, New York, June was a daughter of Verl and Bessie (Tice) Erway. In June of 1950, June married Raymond Brownlee in Alexandria, Virginia, and together they moved to Wilmington in 1957, where they raised their family.

June was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington, and in her free time enjoyed tending to her yard and gardening. She was an avid reader; enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and loved her dogs. Family was always of the utmost importance, and she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: John Brownlee (Lori Pemberton) of Pontiac, Janet Bradley of Wilmington, James (Carla) Brownlee of Sheridan, Jayne (Larry) LaGesse of Chebanse, and Joel (Tina) Brownlee, Jack (Tracey) Brownlee, and Jill Horn, all of Wilmington; her former daughter-in-law, Diane Brownlee Moreno; grandchildren: Steven (Erin) Brownlee, Carrie Brownlee, Richard Bradley, Gregory Bradley II, Justine (Josh) Davis, Joshuah (Danielle) Stevens, Andrew (Katie) Stevens, Timothy (Allie) Stevens, Mitchell Hazelton, Steffanie Hazelton, Jacob Hazelton, Alec Brownlee, Alyssa Brownlee, Adam Brownlee, Brian Carey, the late Justin Hannum, Hannah (Zach) Keesee, and Jacob Horn (Fiance, Lydia Palcuk); (20) great grandchildren, Carson, Theo, Leo, Dade, Madison, Peyton, Savanna, Sierra, Sophia, Alexis, Joey, Grace, Cannon, Lillian, Gino, Bryce, Josh, Lyla, Hazel and Nolan.

June was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond (1983), daughter-in-law, Carol Brownlee; son-in-law, Gregory Bradley; four sisters: Isabel Hatch, Margaret Susko, Clarabel Hannan and Muriel Knapp, and one brother, Kenneth Erway.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service 2:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington.  Pastor Jeff Whittum from Ignite Christian Church in Braidwood will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, where June will be laid to rest with her late husband.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in June’s memory to a humane society of the donor’s choosing.
