Obituary

June Marie Elam

Age 95 of Morris, Illinois, formerly of Mazon, Illinois died on Friday, July 17, 2026, at her home in Morris.

Born on January 16, 1931, in Mazon, Illinois, June Marie was a daughter of Gordon and Amanda (Sorem) Leach. She was raised and educated in Mazon, where she graduated from her local high school with the Class of 1949. Following graduation, June married the love of her life, Robert, on November 18, 1950, in Mazon. Together they built a life that was grounded in love and dedication. For several years, she worked as a packer for a local lantern company, working to help provide for her family.

June was a member of the local Royal Neighbors Club and Thousand Trails Camping Timeshare Group. She was also an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels, helping her community in supplying food to those in need.

June embraced life with enthusiasm, finding joy in every opportunity and making the most of each day. During their retirement, she and Robert found great fulfillment traveling together in their fifth-wheel camper, exploring numerous states across the country. Texas became their favorite destination, and they returned there many times. June was also a devoted fan of Chicago baseball, faithfully cheering for both the Cubs and the White Sox. She and Robert always looked forward to watching games together and supporting their favorite teams. Above all, June will be remembered for her deep love of family and the immense pride she took in her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

June is survived by her husband, Robert; three children: Gary (Mary) Elam of Missouri, Terry (Leslie) Elam of Iowa, and Judy Shelton of Morris; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two special sisters in-law; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister and three brothers; parents in-law; one son in-law; and one great-grandchild.

Per June's wishes, she has gifted her body for anatomical study and there will be no services at this time.
