Carol "Kay" Rae Sullivan

Age 78, and formerly of Wilmington, passed away Monday December 31, 2012 in Florida.

Born December 6, 1934 in Joliet, Illinois, Kay was a daughter of the late Raymond & Viola (Hansen) Treadman. She was educated in the Wilmington schools and attended college at Illinois State University in Normal. Kay married James W. Sullivan and lived most of her life in Wilmington. She began her career with Johnson & Johnson in Chicago, and later transferred to Wilmington after the Personal Products plant was opened. Kay retired from the Personnel Department at Personal Products upon the closing of the plant. She also served as Clerk and Treasurer for Wesley Township for numerous years. Kay was very athletic, loved playing with the girls softball traveling league, and was a member of the 600 Bowling Club. Kay was a member of Wilmington Recreation Club, Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and Wilmington Moose Lodge.

Survivors include her son Michael James of Wilmington; brother Jack (June) Treadman of Douglasville, Georgia; nieces and nephews: Earl Hinds, Bill Treadman and Drew Treadman of Wilmington, Jackie Skeldon of New Lenox and Pat Abanatha, Grace Hert, Debbie Craterfield and Debbie Bolin, all of Wilmington, and cousins: Larry (Beverly) Treadman and Joel Treadman, both of Wilmington. Kay also leaves behind numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins and dear friends, as well as her buddy Sara Rae Bolin of Wilmington.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, husband James W. Sullivan, brother William Treadman, sister Patricia Skeldon, and nephew Donald Skeldon.

Cremation rites have been accorded per Kay's wishes. The family will receive friends on Monday January 21, 2013 from 4:00PM until time of memorial service 7:00PM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Deacon Don Dyer from Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington will officiate. A private family inurnment will follow in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington, where Kay will be laid to rest with her late husband Jim.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Kay's memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, Wilmington School District Foundation for Excellence or the American Lung Association.
