Kenneth J. Fox
Age 73 of Wilmington, formerly of Joliet, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.
Born July 26, 1947 in Joliet, Kenneth Joseph was a son of Walter and Loretta (Hickman) Fox. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Providence Catholic High School with the Class of 1965. Kenneth served in the United States Army, and on October 14, 1972, he married Gloria Julia Perona at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Joliet. He later relocated with his family to Wilmington where he would build their family home.
Kenneth worked for Caterpillar in Joliet for over 30 years, starting as a welder and then moved to the hydraulics department until his retirement. He was a man of many talents and was a skilled woodworker. Kenneth made many beautiful scroll saw cut animal woodcarvings, with birds of prey being his favorite designs to make. Kenneth also enjoyed gardening and was a fan of the Chicago Bears.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Fox of Wilmington, one daughter, Linda (Mark) Wharton of Joliet, two brothers: Daniel Fox of Florida and Greg Fox of Wilmington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bernard (Patricia) Perona of Oak Lawn and Nancy Fox of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tammy Fox, and one brother, Raymond Fox.
The family will receive friends for a COVID observant visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 4:00 p.m., with Reverend Bradley Shumaker officiating.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services, and inurnment will be at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington at a later date.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Kenneth’s memory to the Senior Services Center of Will County, where Kenneth did much of his wood working in later years.
