Kristine Marie Murphy

“Krissy”

Age 35 of Wilmington, Illinois earned her angel wings on Monday, August 7, 2023 following a valiant battle with scleroderma, which she endured with grace and dignity.

Born October 30, 1987 in Joliet, Illinois Kristine Marie is a daughter of Michael and Kimberly (Evans) Murphy of Wilmington. She attended St. Rose Catholic School; graduated from Bishop McNamara High School with the Class of 2006 and went on to attend both Joliet Junior College, as well as Arizona State University.

Following her diagnosis at the age of 10, Krissy recognized all of the challenges that were presented to her, and accepted them with courage. She had a passion for cooking, was blessed to travel extensively both domestically and abroad, and enjoyed shopping. Nothing gave her greater joy however than spending time with those she loved, both family and friends.

Gone from our sight, Krissy leaves behind the legacy of being a strong and extreme warrior whose gratitude and compassion was bestowed to those around her. Her sassy, funny and often time feisty personality will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she loved, and those who loved her.

Survivors include her parents, Mike and Kim Murphy; sisters: Michelle (Brian) Osmonson of Diamond, Illinois and Katie Murphy of Chicago; her maternal grandparents, Donald and Nancy Evans of Marion, Illinois; aunts and uncles: Bev (Chris) Brock of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Bruce Evans of Marion, Illinois, Scott Murphy of Wilmington and Dave (Amy) Murphy of Peoria, Illinois; six special cousins and numerous close and dear friends.

Krissy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Tom and Kay Murphy and an infant sister, Sarah Murphy.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until time of memorial service, 2:00 p.m.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Krissy’s memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
