Larry J. Grachan, Sr.
Age 85, of Wilmington, Illinois, formerly of Joliet, Illinois, Morris, Illinois, Lockport, Illinois and Camdenton at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois.
Born on August 16, 1941, in Joliet, Larry James Grachan was the son of George and Rose (Wojtak) Grachan. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Township High School with the Class of 1959.
On September 15, 1962, Larry married the love of his life, Bonnie Behun, at the Lockport Courthouse. From that day forward, they began a beautiful life together, sharing countless memories and adventures throughout the years.
He began his working career at R. R. Donnelley Lakeside Press, where he worked as a printer for 10 years. He then joined Multicolor in Lockport, working as a pressman for more than 30 years until the facility closed in 1992. He later worked at Design Graphics as a printer in Frankfort, Illinois before officially retiring at the age of 62.
Larry found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, gardening, especially growing his tomatoes, and building model boats. He treasured the time he spent with Bonnie and enjoyed the friendship and companionship of his neighbors, Joe and Linda Nugent. Larry was a generous and caring man who was always willing to lend a helping hand and share his kindness with others. Music held a special place in Larry's heart. He had an extensive record collection, enjoyed playing the accordion, and took great pleasure in collecting things, especially antiques. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children: Laura (Gary) Lakie of Homer Glen, Illinois, and Larry Grachan, Jr. of Diamond, Illinois; grandchildren: Kristen (Wojtek) Stolorz, Kadee (Justin) Lovrich, Alisha (Lloyd) Emmons, and Christina (Sam) Pandolfi; great-grandchildren: Nikolas Stolorz, Loree Lovrich, Holly and Henry Emmons, Finley and Stetson Pandolfi; sister, Jeanie (the late George) Goins, Pam Grachan, and Carol Grachan; brothers and sisters-in-law: Linda (Daniel) Shroba, Doris (the late Patrick) Meyer, Pamela (Mark) Picard, John Behun, Jr., and Michael (Maggie) Behun as well as many nieces and nephews and several cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Helen (Robert and Bob) Bistry - Soukup, Francis (Seddy) Sefcik, Richard "Dicky" Grachan, and Dennis Grachan, Sr.
Per his wishes cremation rites are being accorded.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Larry's name to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
