Larry E. Putty
Age 79 of Morris, Illinois, died Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.
Born December 24, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Larry Edward was a son of James Putty and Brooksie (nee Gurley) Putty-Garvin. He was raised in Tennessee before his family relocated to Chicago, where he graduated from South Shore High School. Larry furthered his education at the College of DuPage, and served in the United States Navy from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1968.
Following his military service, he worked in steel mills while serving his apprenticeship to become an electrician. Larry then became a member of the IBEW Local 134, and worked for several companies throughout his career. He held employment with Ford Motors, Atlantic Richfield Company, Argonne National Laboratory, and Clorox Company until his formal retirement in 2013. It was at Argonne that Larry met Cynthia Henry, and they married on December 22, 1990 in Lemont, Illinois, and would make their home in Morris.
He was a great fan of being outdoors fishing and spending time out in the sunshine boating on a lake. Larry was a hard worker who stayed active by working part-time at Home Depot and fixing and collecting Chevy Stepside trucks. He loved all sports and took great pleasure in supporting all Chicago sports teams. Larry had a knack for problem solving, always able to find creative solutions to whatever challenge was presented to him. His calm demeanor brought a great ease to those around him, and he will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his family.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Putty of Morris; four children: Jenny (Andy) Barrett of Orland Park, Illinois, Brian (Kim) Putty of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, Meghan Putty of Brooklyn, New York, and Jake Putty of Morris; four grandchildren: Jack, Ainsley, Dillon, and Anthony; one brother and one sister: Terry (Kay) Putty and Lana (Doug) Clark, both Ocala, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gloria Ruppert (Rick Harley) of Rockford, Illinois, Kathy (Joe) Error of Knoxville, Tennessee, Gary (Kellie) Henry of Lemont, Illinois, and Lynn (Mark) Labno of Lemont, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
