Laura Mabry Forsythe

Age 105 of Wilmington, Illinois and a resident at ARC Senior Care Facility of Dwight, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023.

On October 19, 1917, in Clarksville, Tennessee, Laura Mabry Forsythe was born a daughter of Paul and Eula (Weakley) Jones. She lived a long and fulfilling life, and was a devoted member of the Christian Faith Center in Wilmington. Laura found great joy in tending to her flowers, cooking delicious meals, baking tasty treats, and creating beautiful quilts. Her true happiness stemmed from the precious moments spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cherished friends.

Laura is survived by five children: Norris Forsythe Jr. of Dickson, Tennessee; Helen Hartman of Diamond, Illinois; Douglas Forsythe of Custer Park, Illinois; Kathy (Steve) Gardner of Branson Missouri; and Richard (Becky) Forsythe of Saunemin, Illinois. She also leaves behind a legacy filled with loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Laura's presence will be deeply missed by all her beloved family members and loyal friends.

Preceded Laura in death were her parents; husband, Norris Forsythe (1979), daughter, Dorothy Dawson; son, Bobby Forsythe, and two grandsons Jason Forsythe and Brian Hartman.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the caregivers and staff at ARC of Dwight for all of the loving care Laura was given over the past year during her residency.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on what would have been Laura's 106th Birthday, Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jeff Urban from Christian Faith Center will officiate the services, and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, where Laura will be laid to rest with her late husband, Norris.
