LeRae Cohenour

Age 86 and affectionately known as Le, passed away peacefully at Arcadia Care in Morris, Illinois on November 2, 2023. She was born on July 31, 1937, in Morris, Illinois to LeRoy and Gladys (Wallace) Johnson.

She was raised in Morris and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1955. LeRae lived in the Peoria and Pekin Illinois area for several years before returning to Morris. 

Throughout her life, LeRae had a variety of interests and hobbies. She practiced jiu jitsu and had a passion for martial arts. She found great joy in connecting with animals and was known for her unwavering love for them.

Le is survived by her brothers: Allen Johnson of Joliet, Illinois; LeRoy Johnson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Gary (Linda) Johnson of Palm Bay, Florida; sister, Lana Lopez of Texas; brother-in-law Edward Thorson of Morris, and several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents LeRoy and Gladys Johnson; her beloved son Jeffrey Cohenour who passed away in 2004; one sister Janean, a sister-in-law Sandy, and one nephew Andy.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on November 6th, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 113) Morris. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday morning, November 7th, 2023 in the funeral home at 10:00 AM.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris, where Le will be laid to rest with her son, Jeff.
