Age 75 of Lockport, Illinois, died peacefully Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.
Born March 23, 1946, in Beckley, West Virginia, Linda was a daughter of Lawrence and Amelia (Dudanas) Milam. She was raised and educated in Chicago; graduated from Tuley High School, and went on to marry Robert Yates.
Linda worked for McDonald’s Corporation in Oak Brook as a transportation specialist for 15 years. This was a position which gave her the opportunity to meet countless notable people while driving the McShuttle. In later years, Linda worked for Helping Hands and Shady Oaks as a Chef.
Devoted to her faith, Linda was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Lockport, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed attending bible study. When Linda wasn’t wearing on the edges of her bible, she loved spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the Chicago Bulls, and admiring her “critters”.
Survivors include three children: Dan (Jackie) Stover, Jenice (Dan) Gurney, Jason (Myrna) Stover; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her brothers: Dennis (Victoria) Milam, Rex (Sue) Milam, and Andy (Flo) Milam; sisters: Mary Milam and Eileen (Ron) Turner; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her lifelong friends: Flo, Marlene and Fay, as well as the Grace Baptist Church “Golden Girls”.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Family will receive friends for a visitation at Grace Baptist Church, 501 N. State Street in Lockport on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 7:00 p.m.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and Linda will be laid to rest in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood with her late husband at a later date.
