Age 67, and a lifelong resident of Wilmington, Illinois passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois.

Born March 9, 1956 in Joliet, Illinois, Lodi was the youngest child of Emil Paul, Sr. and Phyllis Jean (Kahler) Vercelli. He was raised in the Brookside neighborhood of Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1974. He went on to attend Northwestern University, where he earned his Bachelors in Economics in 1978.

Lodi’s career in technology began at IBM where he was honored as a two time Golden Circle Member earning top sales worldwide. He later moved to XL DataComp, where he started in sales and later joined the Board of Directors. During his tenure at XL DataComp, they not only became a publicly-traded entity but also expanded the company internationally. The exponential growth and success led to their inclusion in the prestigious Fortune 500 List. His biggest career move was when Lodi founded MCSI in 1995 and served as its President and CEO until selling the company in 2007. Subsequently, he embraced retirement in 2008.

Throughout his professional journey, Lodi never lost touch with his passion for local sports. He dedicated his time and energy to coaching and mentoring countless teams, including those of his own children and, more recently, his beloved grandchildren. Family always remained his utmost priority.

In 2004, Lodi and Lynn established a cherished haven in Ft. Myers Beach. Over the past 20 years, they have created countless precious memories with family and friends while reveling in the beauty of the beach.

Lodi was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington, and he leaves behind a lasting legacy of generosity, unwavering dedication, inspiring optimism, and a profound commitment to guiding and empowering others to surpass their expectations effortlessly.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Lynn (nee Coleman); four children: Jake (Andrea) Vercelli of Shorewood, Illinois, Gina (Dennis) Morgan of Wilmington, Tony (Christie) Vercelli of Tinley Park, Illinois and Vince (Lisa) Vercelli of Wilmington; (12) grandchildren: Madeline, Luke, Cooper and Greyson Vercelli, Angela, Leonard, Lodi and Maddux Morgan, and Emilia, Antonio, Jr. Eliana and Grant Vercelli; siblings: Jean Stickel and Emil “Scotty” (Sharon) Vercelli, both of Wilmington and Toni (Jerry) LaPointe of Homer Glen, Illinois, one brother-in-law, James (Nan) Coleman of Wilmington and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as friends.

Lodi was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles “Butch” (Charlotte) Vercelli; brother-in-law, James Stickel; nephew, Brian Coleman, Nieces: Jeanine Vercelli and Kimberly Horn and great nephew, Timothy Stickel.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at the First United Methodist Church, 401 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday morning, February 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the church with Pastor Harriette Cross officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington and the Brookside Bombers will act as pallbearers.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Lodi’s memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 S. Main Street, Wilmington, IL 60481 or to the Wilmington School District Foundation for Excellence, 209 Wildcat Court, Wilmington, IL 60481.
