Age 75 of Coal City, passed away Wednesday June 7, 2006 in her home.

Born December 13, 1929 in Joliet, Lucille was a daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine (Zuchowski) Ballun. She was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Providence Catholic High School.

On August 09, 1952, Lucille married George Schmidberger in Joliet, and shortly after marriage they moved to Coal City where they lived their entire married life. Lucille enjoyed being a homemaker, and along with her husband George owned and operated George's Tap in Coal City. She enjoyed baking wedding and birthday cakes, and worked as a receptionist for 15 years at the Major School of Dance in Coal City. Lucille was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City for over 50 years, a member of the Grundy County Senior Citizens, and a member of The Red Hat Society Chapter "Happy Red Hatters".

Survivors include her four children: Georgette (Harold) Vota of Coal City, Joseph (Mary Jane) Schmidberger of Parker, CO, Mary Jo (Perry) Major of Coal City and Lucille (Douglas) Cueller of Orland Park; thirteen Grandchildren: Nicholas, Lauren and Daniel Cueller, Joe, Jennifer, Tom and Danielle Schmidberger, Cheryl and Jack Dewey, Troy and Michele Scholes, and Sheila and Bill Scudieri; four Great Grandchildren: Alyssa, Katelyn, Samantha and Justin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, two Brothers: Arthur Ballun and Aloysius Ballun; three Sisters: Josephine Perchorowicz, Anna Ballun, Eleanor Dehm and Agnes Suste.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2006 from 4 to 8pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.

Funeral services will follow on Saturday June 10th at 11:00am in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Mike Pennock officiating.

Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Schmidberger Jr., Tom Schmidberger, Troy Scholes, Jack Dewey, Nicholas Cueller, and Justin Jett.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Lucille's memory to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Reeves Funeral Homes, Ltd. in Coal City.
