Geoffry Lynn Dergo, 51, of Morris, Illinois, passed away from his long battle with an aortic dissection. He passed on October 15, 2025 in the home of his mother, with her and his long -time friend Robin Mitchell by his side.
Born on November 3, 1973, in Morris, Lynn Geoffry was the beloved son of L. Gehrig and Joeine (Batts) Dergo. He was raised in Morris and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1991. A lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morris; he loved his church, especially participating in the Maundry Thursday Programs. Geoffry’s faith and community were central to his life.
Growing up, Geoffry was an avid swimmer and a proud member of the Morris Marlins Swim Club. His dedication and talent earned him a swimming scholarship to Wesleyan University. While in high school, Geoff loved his first job working summers for the city of morris.Beyond athletics, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with his children, fishing, playing guitar, and exploring his love of music in all its forms. Known for his photographic memory and deep affection for animals, he was a kind, hardworking, and generous soul who truly enjoyed connecting with others.
"We are heartbroken to lose him. His laugh, his stories, and the way he made everyone feel. Geoffry had a big personality, a big heart, and deep love for family. He would give the shirt off his back, lend a hand, talk your ear off, or give you the best hug."
Geoffry is survived by his four children: Pandora Haish, Kira Dergo, Layne Dergo, and Ivy Dergo; brothers: L. Gehrig Jr. (Mary Beth) Dergo of Amarillo, Texas, L. George Dergo (Laurie Graham) of Morris; sister, Laurie Decker of Morris; numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins, along with many close friends whom he cared for deeply.
He was proceeded in death by his father, and his brother, L. Garrett Dergo.
Per the families wishes Geoffry will be cremated.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church in Morris, 200 East Jackson Street, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Rev. James Friesen will officiate a service for Geoff beginning at 3:00 p.m. The family has requested that everyone wears their favorite rock band T-Shirt.
A burial at Evergreen Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made as gift's in Geoffry's name to the family for their distribution or donor's choice.
