Age 51, of Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at his mother’s home, surrounded by those who loved him.
Born on November 3, 1973, in Morris, Lynn Geoffry was the beloved son of L. Gehrig and Joeine (Batts) Dergo. He was raised in Morris and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1991. A lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morris, Geoffry’s faith and community were central to his life.
Growing up, Geoffry was an avid swimmer and a proud member of the Morris Marlins Swim Club. His dedication and talent earned him a swimming scholarship to Wesleyan University. Beyond athletics, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with his children, fishing, playing guitar, and exploring his love of music in all its forms. Known for his photographic memory and deep affection for animals, he was a kind, hardworking, and generous soul who truly enjoyed connecting with others.
"We are heartbroken to lose him. His laugh, his stories, and the way he made everyone feel. Geoffry had a big personality, a big heart, and deep love for family. He would give the shirt off his back, lend a hand, talk your ear off, or give you the best hug."
Geoffry is survived by his four children: Pandora Haish, Kira Dergo, Layne Dergo, and Ivy Dergo; brothers: L. Gehrig Jr. (Mary Beth) Dergo of Amarillo, Texas, L. George Dergo (Laurie Graham) of Morris; sister, Laurie Decker of Morris; numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins, along with many close friends whom he cared for deeply.
