Obituary

Lynn Kjellesvik

Age 80, of Morris, Illinois, formerly of Streator, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Born on March 5, 1946, in Streator, Lynn was the daughter of Benjamin and Florence (Christensen) Barickman. She was raised and educated in Streator and graduated from Streator High School with the Class of 1964. She went on to attend Northern Illinois University, where she earned her bachelor's degree before beginning her career as an art teacher with Morris Community Unit School District 54.

On November 22, 1975, Lynn married the love of her life, Robert Kjellesvik, in Streator. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and faith. After stepping away from teaching to devote herself to raising her children and caring for her family, Lynn later returned to the classroom as an art teacher at Garfield School, where she shared her creativity and passion with countless students before retiring.

She had a creative spirit and loved to draw, doodle, and work on puzzles. She also enjoyed watching British television programs and mystery series, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, and relaxing with a Manhattan in hand. She was known for organizing a fun-loving domino's girl group that brought laughter and lasting friendships into her life. A devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris, Lynn's faith remained an important part of who she was. She also cherished her beloved dog, Duncan, who was a constant companion.

Above all else, Lynn's greatest joy was her family. She lived for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, celebrating every milestone and cherishing every moment spent together. She loved deeply, gave generously, and always put those she cared about first.

Lynn is now joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Robert, whom she missed dearly. Her kindness, creativity, unwavering love, and generous heart will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on through her family and the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her children: Sherri (Paul) Kuehn of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Traci Kjellesvik of Morris, Josh (Carolynn) Kjellesvik, of Morris, and Katie (Andy) Dzielawa of Morris as well as her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; brother, David (Dottie) Barickman of Iowa, several nieces and nephews and all of her loving friends.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and parents in law: Roy and Ernestine Kjellesvik, her husband, Robert; children: Steven Kjellesvik and Scott Kjellesvik; sister, Stacey (Jerry) Bowlin and brother-in-law, Richard Kjellesvik.

Per Lynn's wishes cremation rites are being accorded.

She will be privately laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Morris alongside her husband, Robert.
