Mae Pogliano

Age 97 of Coal City, passed away with her family by her side on March 15, 2024.

Born April 2, 1927 in Chicago, Mae was the daughter of Raymond and Emma Henning of Chicago. She was raised and educated in Chicago and graduated from Farragut High School. Mae was a member of the Coal City Area Club and Assumption Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Coal City. She had a great love of the ocean and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mae will be remembered as a beautiful and selfless person whose family meant everything to her. She always placed everyone first in front of her and was the matriarch of our family. 

Mae married Robert Pogliano in 1947 where they raised 2 daughters and 4 sons on a farm in Goose Lake. They were married 25 wonderful years. 

Survivors include her daughters, Pat (Pierre) Brown Dube of Laughlin, NV Carol (Kurt) Budde of Coal City, her sons, Robert (Linda) Pogliano, Jim Pogliano, Don (Connie Terrel) Pogliano and Bill (Sharon) Pogliano, all of Coal City. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Talty, Tyler Talty, William (Anna) Pogliano, Rachel (Dave) Cullen, Benjamin (Shana) Pogliano, Bobby Jr (Blythe) Pogliano, and Daniel Pogliano. Great grandchildren Graham Talty, Kyla Pogliano, Jaden Pogliano, Anthony Burcham, Troy Pogliano, Katrina Cullen and Liam Pogliano. 

Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Raymond Henning, her husband Robert Pogliano and her granddaughter, Rebecca Pogliano. 

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 215 South Kankakee Street, in Coal City on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Joshua Miller presiding. Burial will follow at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be: Ryan Talty, Tyler Talty, Ben Pogliano, Billy Pogliano Jr, Daniel Pogliano and Bobby Pogliano Jr. Honorary Pallbearer will be Rachel Cullen. 

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mae’s memory to her family for their distribution.
