Margery Ann Hiney (1948–2026)

Age 77, Margery “Marge” Hiney passed away at home, surrounded by family, on March 6, 2026.

Margery was born in Lisbon, Illinois, in 1948 to Kermit and Marian (Swenson) Elleby. She married William Hiney III on February 13, 1969, after meeting him through her colleague, Catherine “Toots” Hiney. Together they built a life centered on family, raising two children, Keith and Kristina, and later welcoming their granddaughter, Amelia.

Marge was a lifelong learner with a deep love for animals (especially horses), history, flowers, and art. She was a gifted and prolific artist, beginning with childhood drawings and continuing through oil painting, crafts, and ultimately her passion for watercolor. Her creativity was not only a personal joy but something she generously shared with others. Those who attend her service are invited to select a piece of her artwork to take home in remembrance of her.

She especially loved traveling with her sister, Linda—seeking out places tied to history and horses—and cherished a meaningful trip to Norway in 2016 to connect with her heritage.

Marge will be remembered for her remarkable talent, her passion for animals, and the joy and beauty she brought into the lives of those who knew and loved her.

Her memory will live on in the art she created and the family she loved so deeply.

The family will receive friends at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 West Jefferson Street, in Morris on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois at a later date.
