Marie Starks

Marie Starks of rural Minooka, Illinois, died Sunday, November 13, 2022 in Joliet, Illinois at the age of 95.  Mrs. Starks was born near Morris on March 13, 1927, the daughter of Herbert and Mary (Gusta) Muffler.  She grew up in and around Seneca and Morris.  Marie graduated as the valedictorian from St. Angela's Academy in Morris in 1945.  She married Russell J. Starks in Coal City in 1950, then lived south of Morris in Wauponsee Township before settling in rural Minooka for 70 years.  Marie worked for the Rock Island Railroad in Joliet and helped Russell run a dairy farm for many years.  She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Minooka and an avid family photographer.  Marie was preceded in death by her husband Russell, her parents and her two sisters, Lucille Cassingham of Joliet and Bernice Gahm of Streator.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families, and her beloved dog Sydney. 

Visitation will be at St. Mary's Church, 303 W. St. Mary’s Street in Minooka on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service 12:00 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Tuan Van Nguyen, presiding. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris. Pallbearers will be: Zach Barry, Riley Treadwell, Doug Cassingham, Brad Yusko, Joe Yusko, Brandon Gahm.
