“Mr. Dreamy”

Age 40 of Wilmington, Illinois, died unexpectedly on March 19, 2021 as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Born January 3, 1981 in Joliet, Illinois, Markus is a son of Rita (nee Rhodes) Lovell and Mark Nielsen, both of Wilmington. He was raised in Braidwood, Illinois and graduated from Reed Custer High School with the Class of 1998.

At the age of 16, Markus began working in the paintball arena, which led to his professional status that took him around the world gracing the rosters of 9 professional paintball teams and to claim the World Cup World Pro Championship.

Following his accomplishments in paintball, Markus’ entrepreneurial skills evolved into his desire to make dreams a reality. Through philanthropic efforts, his unending desire to make the world a better place, and aspiration to inspire kids, Mr. Dreamy and Pals became a reality. It was Markus’ unique personality that branded Mr. Dreamy and Pals, which has allowed him to connect with countless others across the globe, help others in need and feed the homeless.

Markus will most be remembered for his passion in following his heart and sharing his lifework of being an entrepreneur. Gone from our sight, Markus leaves behind a legacy of goodwill that has touched countless individuals near and far.

Survivors include his parents: Rita (Dave) Lovell and Mark Nielsen, both of Wilmington; one step-sister, Lindsay (Mike) Powers of Braidwood; his nephew, Zach Powers and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as friends around the world.

Markus was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jim and Velma (McCaslin) Rhodes and Floyd and Lucille (Nahas) Nielsen, and one uncle, Brent Nielsen.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A celebration of life open house will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 through April 3, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. each day at The Rustic Inn, 108 North Water Street in Wilmington, Illinois. A prayer vigil and memorial will be Saturday, evening April 3, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.

In light of Markus’ desire to help those in need, memorials in his memory are requested to be made to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 S. Main Street, Wilmington, IL 60481. Kuzma Care Cottage is a local food pantry that assists families throughout the Wilmington area providing emergency food to those in need.
