Marsha Kay Sowers

Age 87 of Dwight, Illinois, formerly of Gardner, Illinois, died Sunday, August 2, 2026 at ARC Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Dwight.

Born July 23, 1939 in Gardner, Marsha was a daughter of John and Josephine (Kroll) Sowers. She was raised in Gardner and attended Gardner schools. Marsha was a member of Braceville United Methodist Church where she was very active and participated in many small groups. She worked as a babysitter for most of her life, caring for countless children over the years. It was not uncommon to see Marsha taking a stroll throughout town, often with a wagon with children pulled right along with her. She was a stranger to no one and loved catching up with anyone she would run into. Marsha was a beloved member of Gardner's community, whose kindness, heart, and warm smile will be remembered for years to come.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Sandy Sowers of Pontiac, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents; and her eleven siblings: John (Bea) Sowers, Wayne (Lillian) Sowers, Archie Sowers, Harold Sowers, Maxine (John) Dite, Betty (Chet) Huston, Lorraine (Leonard) Brockman, Dorothy (Leo) Muzzarelli, Jean (Glen) Treasure, Juanita (Richard) Marshall, and Becky Sowers.

Per Marsha's wishes, cremation rites are being accorded, and the family is planning a memorial service in the Fall.
