Age 90 of Wilmington passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at her home.

She was born December 14, 1930 in Wilmington to Arthur and Alpha (Sitter) Heck. Mary was raised and educated in Wilmington, graduating from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1948. On August 15, 1948 she married Charles “Bud” Bullock in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Glen Dunbar officiating. Together they made their home and raised their family in Wilmington. Mary was employed by the Joliet Arsenal, and later retired from Johnson & Johnson Personal Products in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wilmington, and a former volunteer at Saint Joseph Medical Center with 21,500 hours volunteering making baby hats for newborns. Her hobbies included knitting, gardening and cooking. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy (Dean) Burnes of Wilmington, two grandchildren: Nicole Burnes of Hanover Park, IL and Jerry (Leah) Burnes of Eveleth, MN; three great grandchildren: Savanna and Michael Burnes, and Audrey Mota; two brothers: Art (Carol) Heck and Larry Heck; two sisters: Marlene (the late Herb) Akins and Joanna (Glenn) Schwartz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles “Bud” Bullock in 2018, two sisters: Anna Ward and Dora Wilson; one brother, John Heck, and two nephews: David Akins and Orman Heafner.

The family will receive friends for a COVID observant visitation on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington from 1:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Harriette Cross from First United Methodist Church in Wilmington officiating.

Those wishing to participate in the services virtually are welcome to join the live stream beginning at 3:00 p.m. A link will be made available on Mary’s memorial page.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, where Mary will be laid to rest with her husband, Bud.
