Mary Anne Sears

(nee Kelly)

Age 77 of Wilmington, Illinois and previously of Bolingbrook, Illinois and Peekskill, New York, passed away on October 24, 2025.

Born on May 18, 1948, in the Bronx, New York, Mary Anne was the daughter of the late Edwin and Kathryn (Clancy) Kelly and the stepdaughter of Veronica (Ebner) Kelly. She attended Assumption School and Ladycliff Academy in New York, and later a secretarial school in New York City.

Mary Anne is survived by her children, David Sears and his partner Jen Yanke of Wilmington, Illinois, and Christine Sears Williams and her husband, Cliff, of Sugar Grove, Illinois. She was the proud grandmother of (10) grandchildren and (11) great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special sister Veronica Dwyer, of Peekskill, New York, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Sears and her cherished son, Brian Sears, both of Wilmington, Illinois; her brother, John and his wife Kay Kelly, of Hingham, Massachusetts; and her sister, Catherine and her husband Gus Baffa, of Niceville, Florida. Mary Anne’s heart never stopped loving those she lost. Her devotion to David and Brian was a defining part of her life, and she carried their memory with grace and quiet strength. Now reunited with them, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway Street, in Coal City on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until time of service, 7:00 p.m. Deacon William Dunn from Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Parish in Coal City will preside.
