Melody Ann Fleming's Obituary

Age 73, of Coal City, Illinois, formerly of Joliet, Illinois, died on Sunday, April 5, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on November 5, 1952, Melody Ann was the daughter of Lester and Marie (Wellner) Miner. She was raised and educated in Rockdale and New Lenox, Illinois and graduated with the class of 1970 from Lincoln Way Central High School. Melody went on to work as a security guard at Dresden Generating Station and was later employed at the Coal City Area Club.

Melody was a deeply family-oriented woman who cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a gift for meaningful, heartfelt conversations and valued time spent with those she loved. Passionate and strong in her beliefs, Melody was both loving and caring. Though she was stubborn at times, she was selfless at heart and always put others before herself.

She is survived by her daughter, Candace Jacobson of Coal City; three grandchildren: Joshua Martinez, Rosa Martinez both of Coal City, and Breanna (Zach) Clark of Tinley Park, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren: Keegan, Gavin, Miah, Rowan, Elijah, Murphy, Bellamy; brother, Lester (Kim) Miner of Marseilles, Illinois; nieces and nephews: Sarah, Ryan, and Danny Miner.

Melody was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, John Fleming, and brother Dwayne Miner.

Per the families wishes cremation rites are being accorded.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway Street, in Coal City from 12:00 p.m. unti the time of memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Sam Payne will officiate, and inurnment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with her husband, John.
