Mel Probus

Age 74 of Heyworth, Illinois, passed away Sunday April 5, 2015 at Heartland Manor Care in Normal.

Born November 26, 1940 in Kentucky, Melvin Hart was a son of the late Marvin Hart and Gaudy Probus. He was raised in Kentucky until relocating with his family to Piper City. Mel was a member of the Teamsters Local and worked as a long haul semi driver. He will be remembered for his love of fishing.

Survivors include his wife Catherine (nee Welbes), whom he married in October of 2009; one son Terry Probus of Decatur; two step children: Penny Sue Gibson of El Paso and Roy Garrett of Chicago; five grandchildren; two sisters: Jacqueline (David) Rever and Mary (Jimmy) Anderson, both of Bloomington and three brothers: Fred (Pam) Probus of McLean, Gordon Probus (Shirley) of Forest City and Bias (Dorothy) Probus of Colorado.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Floyd and Franky Probus and one sister Charity Pearl.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
