Age 35 of Morris, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 4, 2019.

Born December 8, 1983 in Morris, Michael Charles is a son of Mark Charles Backhus and Catherine Ann Enger.  He was raised and educated in Morris and attended Morris schools. Michael worked many years next to his father in the family business Gordon and Backhus Lock and Glass, but currently working with his uncle Tom Enger at Steffes Gutters. He cherished every moment he spent with his kids, loved fishing and spending time with friends, and was a true Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

Survivors include his parents: Mark Backhus and Catherine Enger, both of Morris; his brother and best friend: Jeffrey Thomas Backhus of Morris; one daughter: Caelyn Marie; and two sons: Brandon Spencer Backhus and Tristan Cole Backhus; his great Aunt: Lucy Novotne of Morris; aunts and uncles: John (Kathy) Maddox, Tom (Sue Sokolinski), Lucy Enger, Les (Julie) Enger, Tom (Kim) Enger, and Jeff (Marquita) Popidinski; his girlfriend: Jasmine Evans; and many cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles and Ruth Backhus, and Les and Mary June Enger.

Per his and the family's wishes, Michael has donated his body to science.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47), in Morris.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please make donations to the family, so they can establish an education fund for Michael's children.
