Age 74 of Wilmington, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born February 10, 1946 in Pontiac, Illinois Michael James was a son of Kenneth Gordon and Eleanor Cecilia (Farrell) Tinges. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1964. Mike went on to attend Northwestern University and earned his Master’s Degree in Education. Mike taught special education his entire career both in Illinois and Nevada. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and will be remembered for his love of shopping, music and concerts, theater and following the Chicago Bears.

Survivors include his brother, Bill Tinges of Lansing, Michigan, two sisters: Mary E. Hendron of Wilmington and Patricia (Craig) McKim of Port Charlotte, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Timothy McKim and great nephew, Jesse Stark in infancy.

Per Mike’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington, where Mike will be laid to rest with his parents. Reverend Sebastian Gargol will preside.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mike’s memory to his family for their distribution.
