Mike Folsom

Age 66, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 15,2024, at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 17, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, Mike was a son born to Ivan Folsom Jr. and Brenda (nee Smith) Richards. He spent his formative years in Joliet and upon completing high school in 1976, he embarked on his career path. Mike's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own carpentry business where he dedicated himself to hard work and craftsmanship.

A member of the Southside Civic Club, Mike had a deep passion for nature and the outdoors. Whether casting a line while fishing or enjoying time on the water, he found joy and tranquility in the elements. An avid hunter and fisherman, Mike had an innate connection with the natural world.

Survivors include his father; James Virklan, of Joliet; two children: Samantha and Sarah Folsom, three grandsons: Dasmin, Kingston, Canan; three brothers: Daniel (Linda) Folsom of Joliet, Ivan (Cherie) Westcott of Yorkville Illinois and Mark (Beth) Folsom, of Chicago Illinois; one sister Angie (Tim) Lesak, of Dwight, Illinois; several cousins; numerous nieces and nephews, the mother of his children, Gail Callahan of Louisville, Kentucky, and his beloved companion, Linda Schargorodsky.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Brenda and his dear aunt Sarah and uncle Charlie.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
