Age 79 of Reddick and formerly of Custer Park, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at her home surrounded by family.

Born October 29, 1940 in Harlan, Kentucky, Mildred Anne was a daughter of Howard Radford and Mary Louise (Yarborough) Griffith. She was raised and educated in Harlan before relocating with her family to Wilmington in 1956. Mildred went on to graduate from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1958. She recently attended Reddick United Methodist Church and will be remembered for her love of gardening, both vegetable and flowers. In her free time Mildred took pleasure in working crossword puzzles, cooking and playing competitive cards. Family was of utmost importance to Mildred, and many memories were created in her Mini Cooper buzzing around her ‘greats’!

Survivors include two daughters: Dianna Hollis and Melba (Mark) Clark, both of Reddick; one daughter-in-law, Stacy Brown of Coal City; seven grandchildren: Phillip D. (Kate) Hollis of Braidwood, Joseph Hollis (Kayla) of Braceville, Mark Jr. (Danita) Clark and Max (Ashley) Clark, both of Reddick, Corey Brown of Gardner, Katie Brown (Michael) of Coal City and Matthew Clark of Reddick; great grandchildren: Jared Oliphant, Caelan Cole, Peyton Clark, Zachary Clark, Jackson Hollis, Caleb Clark, Brayson Brown, Kinnzee Brown, Layla Clark, Jacob Clark, Ella Popovich, Damian Clark, Andrew Clark, Rory Hollis and Callie Hollis; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Griffith of Texas; three step-children: Peggy Brown (Steve Snow), Marlene (Gary) Miller and Rebecca Turner, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Melvin Brown; second husband, Eugene Turner; three children: Ginger Brown, Mitchell Brown and Matthew Brown; siblings: Martha (Larry) Hicks, Mary (Arthur) Patrie, Margaret Griffith and William Griffith, and her son-in-law, Phillip L. Hollis.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Due to recent updated mandates issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health; Face mask requirements and measures of safe social distancing practices will be in order. The funeral home staff will assist the family not to exceed the newly lowered safe number set forth for the visitation.

A private family service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020. Those wishing to participate in Mildred’s services are invited to watch the live stream on Thursday morning starting at 11:00 a.m. by logging onto her memorial page.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, Illinois.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mildred’s memory to her family for their distribution.
