Age 83 of Morris, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 due to injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.
Born October 9, 1941 in Morris, Ned was a son of Ned, Sr. and Nellie (Meredith) Kneller. He was raised and educated in Morris and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1959. Following high school, Ned served in the United States Navy for four years until his honorable discharge. He was a proud veteran and was a member of both the Morris VFW Post 6049 and American Legion Post 294.
Ned was a well known and beloved member of the Morris community, owning and operating Ned's Standard Station, the Dari-Castle, and many other businesses in the area. Always an active man, he was a great bowler in his younger years and was always up for a round of golf. Ned particularly enjoyed winter sports, including snow skiing and snowmobiling. Reading and traveling were other activities that were of interest, but chiefly he was a great sports fan. Ned loved Chicago sports teams such as the Bears and Cubs, but above all else was his love of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren who were precious to him.
Survivors include two children: Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Kneller of Burnet, Texas and Jerilynne Costenaro of Gulf Shores, Alabama; one son-in-law, John (Jackie) Costenaro; grandchildren: Fallon Constenaro (Joachim RØnning) of Sandefjord, Norway, Zane (Brier) Costenaro of Morris, and Gianna Costenaro of Denver, Colorado; great grandchildren: Lucy Torp, and Isak, Nellie, and Hennie RØnning; one brother, Gary (Barb) Kneller, one brother-in-law, Ken (Barb) Olson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ned was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Kneller, and two brothers: Paul and Fred Kneller.
