Orval L. Bever "Jay"

Age 77 of Wilmington, passed away Monday August 7, 2006 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born December 28, 1928 in Joliet, Jay was a son of the late Clarence and Harriet (Rice) Bever. He was a Korean War Veteran and served 2 terms with the US Army. Jay was retired from the Electricians Union Local #176, where he was active for numerous years and in his spare time he was an avid stained glass maker and quilter. Jay loved the Chicago Bears, NASCAR Racing and traveling with his wife of 54 years: Joan nee Hanko. He also enjoyed cars of various types and was a member of the Wilmington Masonic Lodge and Wilmington VFW.

Survivors include his loving wife Joan, daughter Melaine (David) Nelson of Diamond and son Mitchell Bever. Two grandsons: Bryan and Brett Bever and three sisters: Jean Huffine, June (Gene) Kahler and Carol Bever.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Barton and one brother in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 9, 2006 from 6-8PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow on Thursday August 10th at 10AM in the funeral home.

Burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
