Age 94 of Coal City, Illinois, passed away Sunday, April 21, peacefully surrounded by family.
Patricia was born in South Wilmington, Illinois to Josephine (Bottino) and Cyril Finn. Her formative years were spent in South Wilmington, and she went on to attend Gardner South Wilmington High School. On May 5, 1951, Pat married Norman Sayers and they made their home in Coal City, Illinois. In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, Pat worked for the Coal City School District in the school cafeterias for many years. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Coal City and was active with The Martha’s. In her free time, Pat enjoyed reading and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks.
Pat is survived by three sons, James (Kathy) of Oswego, Tom (Sarah) of Carbon Hill, and Tim (Kris) of Carbon Hill, one brother, Ed Finn, grandchildren, Nick (Ashley) Sayers, Ali (Brian) Bicek, Sheri (Tracey) Pierard, Stacey (Danny) Rodgers, Keith (Stacy) Benson, Hunter (Julie) Sayers, and Conner (Samantha) Sayers, great grandchildren, Kyle Pierard, Halee and Noah Rodgers, Kelsie Butkovitz, Kyra and Landin Benson, Ben and Mia Bicek, Paul, Wade, & Cole Sayers, and baby Layla Sayers due in June, great great grandchildren, Asher Bryant, Brynn Whalen, and River Rodgers, Tessa, Jace, and Wyatt Pierard. She is also survived by sister in law, Charlotte Finn, and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman Sayers, brothers, Bill (Vivian) Finn, Eugene (Myrtle) Finn, and sister Mary (Joseph) Bacigalupo, and great grandson Dylan Pierard.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 215 South Kankakee Street in Coal City with Rev. Father Josh Miller presiding and Deacon Bill Dunn assisting. The family will then receive friends in the Berst Center of Assumption Parish for a memorial luncheon immediately following the funeral services.
A private inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington, where Pat will be laid to rest with her late husband, Norman.
In lieu of flowers, donations will graciously be accepted to The Arc of Dwight activity department. The family would like to thank The Arc of Dwight and Lightways Hospice for their loving care.
