Paul W. Hicks, III

Age 58 of Wilmington, Illinois died Monday, October 20, 2025 at his home.

Born March 19, 1967, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Paul was the son of Paul Jr. and Doris Hicks. He was raised in Tennessee before moving with his family—first to Morris, Illinois, and later settling in Wilmington. Paul graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1985 and went on to build a career as a journeyman, retiring from IBEW Local Union #176.

Paul enjoyed spending time at the race track, cookouts with friends, and playing video games. Though he looked like a biker, he was a nerd at heart. Known for his humor, honesty, and outgoing personality, Paul will be remembered as unfiltered, funny, loud, and deeply social.

Above all, Paul loved his family. He was endlessly proud of his children and cherished his role as a grandfather. His laughter and larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children: Destiny Hicks (Jeromy Stacy) of Pontiac and Devin Hicks (Karina Sanchez) of Wilmington and one grandson, Gavin Stacy, as well as cousins and a host of friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
