Peggy J. Daniels

Age 87 of Wilmington, Illinois, died peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, Illinois, with her loving family at her side.

Born February 20, 1938 in Fort Wayne County, Illinois, Peggy Joyce was a daughter of James and Ruby (Edmison) Bruce. She was raised in Fairfield, Illinois, where she graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1956. On January 10, 1957, Peggy married Glen Earl Daniels in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Together, they moved to Wilmington where they made their home and raised their family.

Peggy worked for the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant before gaining employment with the Wilmington Police Department as an emergency line operator and supervisor for many years until her well earned retirement. She was a faithful woman and long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington. Peggy had several interests including doll collecting, crafting, working in her flower garden, and spoiling her dog, Audi. Nothing was more important to her than her family. Peggy was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always put her family's needs before her own. She was so very proud of her grandchildren whom she held near and dear to her heart, and considered to be her greatest legacy.

Survivors include three children: Patti (Bill) Calhoon, Randy (Kathy) Daniels, and Tammy (John) McCormick, all of Wilmington; eight grandchildren: Glennden (Sara) Daniels, Miranda Calhoon, Jacqueline Daniels, Katrina (Kyle) Skoryi, Laura (Ryan) Schroeder, Jacob (Tori) Daniels, Morgan (Ferat) Imrak, and John McCormick; seven great grandchildren: Ali Daniels, Drew Daniels, Maggie Skoryi, Lennox Daniels, Cayde Skoryi, Audrey Schroeder, and Spencer Daniels; as well as many cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and her very dear friend, Jane Ashcraft.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Glen Daniels; two sons: Billy Daniels and Kevin Daniels; six brothers: Walter "Gene" Bruce, Virgil "Doyle" Bruce, Leslie Bruce, Billy Bruce, Clarence "CL" Bruce, and Tommy Bruce; and six sisters: Beulah Sledge, Norma Walker, Betty McKinney, Theda Ferguson, Phyllis "Joann" Bunnage, and Verna Bloodworth.
