Age 73 of Wilmington, Illinois died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox, Illinois.
Born January 25, 1952 in Cicero, Illinois, Philip Wilson was a son of Lawrence and Doris (Wilson) Anderson. He was raised and educated in Cicero and graduated from Morton East High School with the class of 1970.
Phil devoted over four decades of his life to the craft of carpet installation, a career he took great pride in. Most recently, he worked for Apostrophe' Design, and also served as a village trustee for the Village of Symerton.
A man of many passions, Phil enjoyed bowling, woodworking, and was especially known for his deep love of music. With an encyclopedic knowledge of songs and artists, he could spark a lively conversation or settle any musical debate with ease. Though soft-spoken by nature, Phil's quick wit and love for a good laugh endeared him to all who knew him. He had a special fondness for limericks, always ready with a clever rhyme.
Phil’s greatest joy in life came from his family. He was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and above all, a loving grandfather who cherished every moment with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Jill, whom he married November 15, 1990; four children: Philip Justin "PJ" (Kat) Anderson of Woodstock, Illinois, Marty (Gina) Enz and Patrick (Amanda) Cowie, both of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Amy (Tracy) Kinkin of Braidwood, Illinois; grandchildren: Mikayla, Landyn, Jurzey, Coltyn, Anzley, Miles, Zoey, Jaxen, Nolan, Bennett, Marcus and Kaitlyn; a brother Larry (Leslie) Anderson of Black Forrest, Colorado; three sisters-in-law: Shelly (Mark) Molle, Wendy (Mark) Kahler and Pam (David) Pitts; two nieces: Karin (John) Kirkys and Kristin (Tim) Ruth, and two nephews: Larry (Patty) Anderson and Matthew (Olivia) Rebel, as well as several great nieces and great nephews.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Linnea (Rick) Rebel; his mother and father-in-law Mert and Wally Proffitt, and one sister-in-law: Peggy Decker.
The family will receive friends at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Green flameless cremation rites will be accorded at the conclusion of the services.
