Ralph A. Siok, Sr.

Age 71 of Elwood, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home.

Born February 1, 1949 in Chicago, Ralph was a son of Aloise and Rosie (nee Ziomek) Siok. He was raised in Chicago until his family moved to Burbank, and graduated from Reavis High School. Ralph was employed as a machinist at Johnson & Johnson/Personal Products in Wilmington until it ceased production. He then gained employment with Partners Warehouse in Elwood as a truck driver until his retirement.

Ralph loved bingo and had an established Thursday night game, originally at Watson’s Bar in Elwood and most recently at the Silver Dollar Restaurant, in Elwood. He was an avid sports fan whose favorite teams included the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox.

The most important thing in Ralph’s life was his family. He was a loving and supportive father, and was thought of as the best father-in-law in the world. Ralph’s grandchildren were especially precious to him, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. After he retired, he started “Papa School” watching and caring for his grandchildren. Ralph made a great impression on all of his family’s friends, and will be remembered affectionately as “Papa Ralph”.

Survivors include his three children: Tiffany (David) O’Connell of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ralph (Jennifer) Siok, Jr. of Elwood, and Heather Turcany of Wilmington; five grandchildren: Brandon and Nikki Siok, and Lily, Ian, and Violet Turcany; brother and sister: Anne Siok of Burbank, Illinois, and John (Dawn) Siok of Burlington, Wisconsin; several nieces, nephews, and God-children, the mother of his children, Barbara Siok of Pentwater, Michigan, and numerous dear friends including Rons, Charlie, and Gibby.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents.

Per Ralph’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and a party to celebrate his life will be held at the Stone City VFW Post 2199, 124 Stone City Drive, in Joliet on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Food and drinks will be available between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. for all attendees, as family and friends gather to share stories and remember Ralph.
