Obituary

Ranell Adrienne Bradford

Age 73, of Mazon, Illinois, formerly of Coal City, Illinois, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Born on December 13, 1952, in Joliet, Illinois, Ranell Adrienne was the daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Wills) Douglas. She was raised and educated in Coal City, where she graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1971.

Ranell was a member of the South Wilmington Fireman's Club and was known for her caring and selfless nature. She dedicated much of her life to caring for others, whether it was her grandchildren, family members, or anyone in need. On January 4, 1991, she married Wayne Bradford at the Grundy County Courthouse, and together they built a life centered on love and family.

Ranell found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved searching for fossils, watching birds, especially eagle sightings, and taking motorcycle rides with Wayne. She also enjoyed camping, tending to her flower gardens, and spending time with those she loved most. One of her favorite traditions was gathering family around a weekend bonfire, where laughter, stories, and cherished memories were shared before the grandchildren settled in for a sleepover.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; children: Amanda (Marc) Cronkrite of Mazon, Shad Bradford of Mazon, and Vanessa Bradford of Coal City; honorary children: Kristin (Anthony) Lissy; grandchildren: Lauren and Vivienne Cronkrite, Nik Navarro; honorary grandchildren: Kaitlyn Harty, Marlie Lissy, Preston Lissy, and Grant Lissy; brothers and sister-in-law: Millie (partner Lea Clayton) Decker, and Raymond (the late Francis) Bradford; several cousins as well as her best friend Beverly Kaminskas and her furry friends: Lady and Louis.

Ranell is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Margaret; parents in-law: Orville and Mabel Bradford; brother, Preston Douglas and her brother-in-law, David Bradford.

In accordance with Ranell's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
