Pastor Raymond H. Jones

Age 80 of Braceville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2015.

Born November 16, 1934 in Clarksville, Tennessee, Raymond was a son of the late Sidney and Myrtle Hagwood-Jones.  He was raised and educated in Clarksville, and on June 25, 1966 Raymond married Jeanette E. Sours in Wilmington.  He was a retired member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #174, in addition to being a Credentialed Minister with the Church of God, pastoring in Wilmington for 22 years.  Raymond was also currently employed by Federated Auto Supplies.  He was a long time member of South Wilmington Fireman’s Club, and served on the Braceville Village Board and School Board.  He will be remembered as an avid baseball fan, especially the Chicago Cubs, a baseball coach, and for his love of fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Jeanette; seven children: Richard (Susan) Jones and Pastor Ken (Jo-Ann) Jones, both of North Carolina, Calvin (Lori) Jones of Wilmington, Connie Jones of Bloomington, Patrick (Carey) Jones of Herscher, Valerie Jones of Gardner and David (Jessica) Jones of Aurora; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one granddaughter, three brothers and one sister.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 1:00 p.m. at Christian Faith Center, 1800 South Water Street in Wilmington. Pastor Dan Hanners will officiate. Burial will follow in Wesley Cemetery. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be: Joe Grant, Jacob Jones, Brandon Jones, Lucas Jones, Matthew Jones, Nelson Stephens and Bill Larson.
