Age 85 of Morris, Illinois passed away Sunday evening, September 6, 2020.

Born March 18, 1935 in Chicago, Raymond Lee was a son of Edwin and Louise (Derrico) Larson. He was raised and educated in Chicago and was a Veteran of the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the service, Ray worked as an architect before going into the insurance business. Ray is the owner of Larson Insurance Agency in Chicago, and has been an agent for Allstate Insurance for the past 53 years. On July 2, 1976, Ray married Diane Soukup in Joliet, Illinois, and together they made their home in Goose Lake. Ray was a longtime member of Morris Country Club and attended St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. He had a passion for golf, and enjoyed running various golf outings throughout the years for such organizations as ‘Make-A-Wish’, political causes, Coal City Unit #1 School District and others. In addition Ray was involved in fund raising for Just Animals Shelter in Mazon. In his free time he took pleasure in working around the house, and keeping up with his architectural skills.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; son, Lee Larson; daughter, Cindee (Ken) Sierzega; two grandchildren: Melissa (Chad) Hansen and Stevie Sierzega; two great grandchildren: Mason and Aiden Hansen; his father-in-law, Robert Soukup, Sr.; brother-in-law, Robert Soukup, Jr.; sister-in-law, Karen Soukup, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edwin (Wanda) Larson and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Soukup.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Sunday, September 13, 2020 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Monday morning, September 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 S. Kankakee Street in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Sebastián Gargol presiding.

Burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Due to recent updated mandates issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health; Face mask requirements and measures of safe social distancing practices will be in order. The funeral home staff will assist the family not to exceed the safe number set forth for the visitation and funeral.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Ray’s memory to Just Animals Shelter, 505 Depot Street, P.O. Box 275, Mazon, Illinois 60444
