Bob "Boomer" Harrington

Age 86 of Morris, Illinois died peacefully Monday, June 15, 2026 at Churchill Place Memory Care Community in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Born June 18, 1939 in Morris, Illinois, Robert Francis Harrington was the son of Harry H. and Mabel G. (Patton) Harrington. A lifelong Morris resident, he graduated from Morris Community High School in 1957.

He honorably served his country in the US Army Reserves. On August 22, 1964, he married Carol Jean Manning at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kinsman, Illinois. Together they built a loving home in Morris and raised their two sons.

Bob was always a ‘numbers’ guy. He worked for Grundy Bank for decades, starting as a teller and retiring as one of their Vice Presidents. After retiring from the bank, he started BH Accounting Services, keeping the books for local businesses for many years.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Morris Country Club.

Bob was an avid golfer and do-it-yourself-er. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and relaxing at the family’s lake home in Delavan WI. He could often be found on the deck listening to music and watching the boats on the water. He was an avid cook, working alongside Carol on holiday meals, and a master of the grill at the lake.

During Carol’s final years, Bob was a devoted and tireless caregiver.

Survivors include his sons: Mark (Karla) Harrington of Naperville, Illinois and Michael (Susan) Harrington of Wheaton, Illinois; six grandchildren: Brandon (Janet) Harrington, Josh (Haley) Harrington, Emily Harrington, Justin (Kylee) Harrington, Mikayla (Zach) Colangelo, and Alyssa Harrington; one great granddaughter, Lizzie Colangelo; one sister, Carole Harrington of Morris; two sisters-in-law: Mary Beth Walsh and Sr. Marjorie Manning, and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol on October 29, 2024; brother, Harry Harrington; sister, Betty (Herb) Clark and one brother-in-law, Frank Walsh.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 East Jackson Street in Morris on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Morris, Illinois where Bob will be laid to rest with his late wife, Carol. Their grandchildren will act as pallbearers.
