Robert Arthur Stroh

Age 85, of Morris, Illinois, formerly of Joliet, Illinois, and Port Charlotte, Florida, died on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at his home in Morris, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born July 9, 1941, in Joliet, Illinois, Robert was raised in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Township High School. Following high school, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps, which was an act of duty that held great significance to him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Robert moved with his family to Arizona for several years. He worked as a car salesman and developed a passion for sky diving, proudly participating in over 500 jumps in his lifetime, embracing the thrill and freedom of every flight. He and his family returned to Joliet where he gained employment as a Teamster, hauling heavy equipment for many local construction companies. After over 25 years of service to the Teamster Local Union, Robert retired and he and his wife Diane moved to Florida where they resided for several years. While in Florida, he worked part time for a local golf course, giving him the freedom to golf whenever he wished, until returning to Illinois to be closer to family.

Robert found joy and adventure in many of life’s experiences. He had a great appreciation for music and literature, as well as Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Robert had a deep love for animals, cherishing his cats and dogs and taking delight in watching and caring for the local squirrels and birds. His adventurous spirit and wide-ranging interests were an important part of who he was.

Robert was known for his wonderful sense of humor and mischievous spirit. A true prankster, he loved teasing those he cared about. The more he harassed you, the more he liked you. His playful teasing was one of the many ways he showed his affection and brought laughter to those around him. He wanted people to have fun and was a gifted storyteller, always ready with a good story to share.

Robert will be remembered most for his love of family, especially his grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye; his playful and adventurous spirit; and the countless stories, laughs, and cherished memories he leaves behind.

Survivors include his wife and companion of over 60 years, Diane of Morris; two children: Robert (Tammy) Stroh and Stacy (Robert) Donath, both of Morris; six grandchildren: Heather Stroh, Christy (Nick) Jaegle, Tyler (Lindsay) Stroh, Kaitlyn Donath (Fiancé Christian Banks), Kyle Donath, and Kayla Donath (Fiancé Kurt Powers); eleven great-grandchildren: Jaylyn, Rylan, Amara, Waya, Jackson, Wyatt, Ezekiel, Harley, Jaydin, Paris, and Bronx; siblings: Judy Olson and Shane (Sol) McFadden; several nieces and nephews, including Michael (Crissy) Olson, Kimberly (George) Stroh Romer, Brandon McFadden, and Christina McFadden; and his three grand dogs Adonis, Atticus, and Citrine.

Robert was preceded in death by his biological parents Floyd Richard Stroh Sr. and Eunice (nee Kewley) McFadden; and his loving parents who raised him as their own, Shirley and Jerry McFadden; one brother, Ricky Stroh; two nieces, Sheila Stroh and Kathy Hopkins; and his two cats Zen and Teja.

Per Robert's wishes, cremation rites are being accorded, and the family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
