Robert Christopher “Bobby” Tarman
Age 42, of Coal City, formerly of Wilmington
Robert Christopher “Bobby/Bob” Tarman, passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Born on August 6, 1983, in Joliet, Bobby was the son of Robert Charles Tarman and the late Gail Elaine (Van Duyne) Tarman. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, attended St. Rose Catholic School, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 2001.
From the age of 17, Bobby built a successful career in electronics and appliance sales. He began at Circuit City, moving on to sales manager at Grants, and later continued his career at ABT Appliances in Glenview, Illinois. Bob truly loved working in sales and especially treasured the lifelong friendships he built with his coworkers, whom he considered family.
As a young man, Bobby was passionate about natural bodybuilding and working out. He was also an avid car enthusiast and had the exciting opportunity to race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. Among his most prized possessions was his beloved Ford Shelby Mustang.
Above all else, Bob found his greatest joy in being with his family. He was a proud and devoted father who especially loved coaching his younger daughters in league soccer, where he was affectionately known as Coach Bob. Bob had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone in need. His kindness, generosity, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his father, Robert Tarman of Coal City; his wife, Julie (Spiezio) Tarman of Minooka; his three daughters, Kendyl Tarman of Joliet, and Jillian and Molly Tarman of Minooka; his sister, Lisa Tarman of Coal City; his aunts and uncles, Larry (Susan) Tarman, Laura (Tony) Esparza, Linda (Mike) Bober, Joseph (Georgene) Van Duyne, Michael (Pam) Van Duyne, Mary Ellen (Jim) Gajack, and Christopher (Shari) Van Duyne; as well as numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gail Tarman; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Charlotte Van Duyne; his paternal grandparents, Richard “Dick” Tarman and Shirley Hack; his uncle, Bill (Tina) Tarman; and his aunt, Ann Savage-Williams.
Cremation rites are being accorded, and the family will receive friends at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, Wilmington, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
