Ruth Ann Everts

Age 92 of Diamond, Illinois, formerly of Lockport, Illinois, died Friday, January 5, 2024 at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Morris, Illinois.

Born June 10, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, Ruth was a daughter of James and Hazel (Knupp) Drnec. She was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1949. On August 25, 1951, Ruth married Paul Junior Everts in Coal City, and together they would make their home and raise their family in Lockport, until they relocated to Diamond. She worked for 21 years at School District 92 in Lockport, where she was a secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. Ruth enjoyed passing her time with needlework and was an avid reader, but nothing brought joy to her more than her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be forever missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include three children: Nanci (Tom) Weideman of Hoover, Alabama, Paul (Nancy) Everts of Channahon, Illinois and Janice (James) Corpus of Peoria, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Cara (Ara) Dombourian, Lynn Weideman, Bradley Weideman, Christa (Jake) Graddy, Jeffrey (Amber) Everts, Audrey (Dave) Kuhne, Daniel (Stefani) Corpus, and Keith (Brit) Corpus; thirteen great grandchildren: Lily, Emma, and Bennett Dombourian, Tripp Weideman, Owen and Palmer Graddy, Evan Everts, Millie Ruth Kuhne, Grayson and Ehnley Corpus, Cecilia and Crosby Corpus, and Haven (Drake) Hart; one sister, Jane (the late Frank) Anselmo of Coal City, and her daughter and special niece, Betsy Stahler of Coal City; one sister-in-law, Arlene Everts of Mokena, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers-in-law: Robert and Jerry Everts; one niece, Ellen Smith; and one great grandchild, Elliott Everts.

Per Ruth's wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and the family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway Street, in Coal City on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Ruth will then be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood with her late husband. 

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ruth's memory to Lightways Hospice in Joliet.
