Ruth Anne Nielsen

Age 85 of Braidwood, Illinois, formerly of Wilmington and Decatur, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Salem Village Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Joliet, Illinois.

Born April 4, 1938 in Princeton, Indiana, Ruth was a daughter of Donald and Lena (Beckwith) Griffin. She was raised and educated in Princeton, and relocated to Illinois. Ruth had a great appreciation for genealogy and learning about her family’s past, giving her a greater connection to family and sharing her love with them.

Survivors include two children: Tracy (Denise) Nielsen of Braidwood and Rona Craig of Wilmington; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Brent Nielsen and Grant Nielsen; one granddaughter, Catherine Nielsen, three sisters: Rose Hueby, Ada Slavik, and Elsie Burton; and one brother, Robert Griffin.

Per her wishes, cremation rites are being accorded and Ruth will be laid to rest at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton, Indiana.
