Age 42 of Braidwood, died unexpectedly on December 4, 2019.

Born August 15, 1977 in Centralia, Illinois, Ryan Roy is a son of Rhonda (Wayne) Grayling of Braidwood and Timothy Verbeck of Greensburg, Indiana. He was raised in Aurora before moving to the Homewood Flossmoor area. He worked as a residential construction carpenter and laborer, and enjoyed electronics.

Ryan played baseball from childhood into his adult years, and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed BMX freestyling and dirt biking, as well as being outdoors and fishing. Ryan had a creative spirit, and was an accomplished artist, who loved drawing as well as tattoos. He was a quick learner, a great teacher, and will be remembered for his ability to antagonize and simply make people laugh.

Survivors include his parents; two daughters: Sylina Taylor and Kylina Verbeck; grandchildren, Ryanna and Miko; siblings: Starla Verbeck (Robert Ilkanic) of Diamond, Joshua (Beth) Grayling of Braidwood, Mandy (Bill) Molle of Farmersville, Illinois, and Keila (Gina) Verbeck, Kara Verbeck and Kyra Sandoval, all of Beckemeyer, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, including: Alicia, Nico, Ethan, Billy, Rhonda, Isabella, Ariella, Braxton, Thayer, Cylas and Ozdyn; his paternal grandmothers: Joan Verbeck of Westport, Indiana and Shirley Verbeck of Shelbyville, Indiana, and aunts and uncles: Robert (Joellen) Rohde, Craig (Ana) Rhode, Fred (Sue) Rohde, Kim Rohde, Sheri (Mark) Hardebeck, Barbara (Danny) Wolford, Vicki Brown, Bonnie Rolfingsmeyer, Shannon (Mark) Edson and Joni (Ray) Sweet.

Ryan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Fred and Geraldine Rohde, paternal grandfather, Jerry Verbeck, nephew, Brayden Grayling and uncle, Chris Rohde.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service 1:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Braidwood.

Family and friends are encouraged to support the family in lieu of flowers by making a contribution to the Funeral Care Fund on the funeral home website.
