Age 58 of Braidwood, Illinois, formerly of Coal City, Illinois, died Monday, April 22, 2024 at Northwestern Palos Hospital in Palos Heights, Illinois,

Born December 19, 1965 in Durango, Mexico, Salvador is a son of Manuela and the late Juan Herrera. His family relocated to Coal City where he attended Coal City schools. Salvador was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Coal City and worked for RR Donnelly in Dwight, Illinois for over twenty years. He enjoyed sports and dirt bike riding as a young man, and as he grew older he found his joy visiting the local parks or being with his family. Salvador was a kindhearted, soft spoken man with a quick sense of humor, who was greatly respected for his respectful disposition.

Survivors include his mother, Manuela Herrera of Coal City; two children: Elisa Herrera (fiance: Jose Alcantar) of Matteson, Illinois and Joel Herrera of Braidwood, and one granddaughter, Lilyana Alcantar; one brother and three sisters: Juan (Maria) Herrera of Coal City, Maria (Nicholas III) Colin of Norridge, Illinois, and Lorena (Julio) Lopez and Griselda (Braulio) Valdez, both of Coal City; nieces and nephews:  
Natalie, Stacey and Joshua Herrera, Ariana, Nicolas IV, Anareli, Isaiah, Rosemary and Jared Colin, Jacqueline, Leslie, Julio and Michael Lopez and Anthony and Kassandra Valdez; several great nieces and great nephews, as well as numerous cousins, including Tony Esparza and Alfred Esparza who were always there for Salvador, and many aunts and uncles.

Salvador was preceded in death by his father, Juan Herrera.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway Street, in Coal City on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow the visitation at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 215 South Kankakee Street, in Coal City at 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, and burial will follow mass at Braceville Gardner Cemetery.
