Age 65 of Diamond, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born October 30, 1955 in Russell, Kansas, Samuel Andrew was a son of Glen and Evelyn (Wyble) Young. He worked at McDonalds and then a steel company in Kansas City, Kansas until he retired in 1985. Sam relocated to Illinois in 2009, where he met and married Nancy (Rhodes) Shelton on July 30, 2011 at Christian Faith Center in Wilmington. He was an avid music fan who loved all genres, had a massive music collection, and was very good at music trivia. Sam also enjoyed watching movies, especially westerns.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Shelton-Young of Diamond, four siblings: Bonnie (the late George) Swank of Burlington, Kansas, Chris (Dewayne) Gibbs of Kansas City, Kansas, David Young of Gardner, Kansas, and Evie (Keith) Shields of Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert (Debbie) Rhodes of Dwight, June (the late Frank) Roudis of Morris, and Mary Lue (the late Vern) Heilman of Iola, Kansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and special companion, his cat, Snowy.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Glenn, Paul, and Tom Young.

Per Sam's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and memorial services will be held at a later date.
