Shawn B. Super
Age 53, of Carbon Hill, Illinois, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
Born February 9, 1973, in Joliet, Illinois, Shawn is a son of Donna (Haldorson) Pacchetti of Carbon Hill and the late David Earl Super. He was raised in Carbon Hill, attended Coal City schools, and graduated with the Class of 1991 from Coal City High School. Shawn went on to pursue his passion for the arts, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Art from the University of Illinois Chicago, and continued to express his creativity throughout his life.
Following college, Shawn began his career at LaSalle Station before joining StarCon, where he dedicated more than 25 years as a Project Planner prior to his recent retirement. He was a member of the Coal City Area Club and was known as a self-taught computer enthusiast with a natural aptitude for technology.
Shawn found joy in gaming and reading, and will be remembered for his outgoing nature. He never met a stranger. Though he could be strong-willed, those who knew him best will remember his generous spirit and kind heart. Above all, Shawn cherished his family. As a devoted son, brother, and uncle, he made holidays special and brought laughter and warmth to those around him.
Shawn’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved him. He was taken too soon, but his memory will be carried on with love and never forgotten.
Survivors include his loving mother, Donna Pacchetti; one brother, Brian Super; his sister-in-law, Renee Super; nieces and nephews: Ashely (Jeff) Schmotzer, Caitlyn (Jeff) Peterson, Lakin (David) Elliott, Jenna Super and Connor Super, and great nieces and great nephews: Grayson and Carson Elliott, Cayden, Xander and Evelyn Schmotzer and Colton, Wrigley and Willow Peterson.
Shawn was preceded in death by his father David E. Super; step-father, Ed Pacchetti; brother David Super and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Green Flameless Cremation Rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City on Monday, March 30, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service AT 5:00 p.m.
Shawn will be laid to rest in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery Columbarium at a later date.
