SHIRLEY M. STEWART

Age 82 of Coal City, passed away Thursday morning April 27, 2006 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet.

Born January 28, 1924 in Joliet, Shirley was a daughter of the late Frank and Jessie (Ardisone) Brandt. She was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated with the Coal City High School Class of 1941. On February 28, 1942 Shirley married Melvin Stewart in New Hope Presbyterian Church and together they have lived their entire married life in Coal City. Shirley was a Cub Scout Leader and member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed to crochet.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years Melvin; one son Terry (JoAnn) Stewart and two daughters: Melanie (Kevin) Fitzgerald and Myra (Paul) Davy, all of Coal City. (7) Grandchildren: Jason (Carrie) Stewart of Missouri and Brad (Tiffany) Stewart of Coal City, Carrie (Dave) Cullick of Coal City, Allison Fitzgerald of Massachusetts, Bryant Fitzgerald of Coal City, Brent (Kristina) Davy of Coal City and Kristi Davy of Braidwood. Four Great Grandchildren: Brendan Cullick, Abbie Cullick, Ella Davy and Jordynn Stewart and her sister-in-law Mrs. LeRoy Brandt of Gardner.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, one brother LeRoy Brandt and one sister Vivian Brandt in infancy.

Private family services have been held per Shirley's wishes with Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City.

Interment was in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Shirley's memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.

Funeral services and arrangements were under the direction of Reeves Funeral Homes, Ltd. in Coal City.
