Terry Lee Lake

Age 70 of Streator, Illinois and formerly of Joliet, Illinois, died Friday November 10, 2023, at his home.

Born June 9, 1953, in Joliet, Terry Lee was a son of John “Jack” and Elizabeth (Bailey) Lake. He was raised and educated in Joliet and went on to honorably serve in the United States Air Force. During his tenure with the Air Force, Terry served on the 321 Strategic Missile Wing, which he took his responsibility of being a missile systems cable splicing specialist very seriously.

Over the years, Terry worked at Johnson & Johnson Personal Products, as well as at Caterpillar Tractor Company. Most recently he held employment with PetSmart in Ottawa until his formal retirement.

He was a member of the Braidwood Recreation Club and as a proud Veteran belonged to the National American Legion. Terry loved nature and truly enjoyed the beauty of natural habitats. Living in the country provided for his pleasure of witnessing spring gardens blooming, peaceful sunrises and sunsets, and being able to watch the storms come in.

Terry was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and he took pleasure in going for a drive. Remembered as a lover of animals, especially the family cats, Terry in addition had a great sense of humor and was a fun spirit. He enjoyed being around others who wished to have fun, and when “This party is over. I’m going home”...

Survivors include his wife Lori, whom he married September 11, 1993; one daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Steve Cload of Diamond, Illinois; one brother, Gary (Kim) Lake of North Carolina, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Diane (Jay) Moreno of Peoria, Kim (Dale) Benson of Tomball, Texas, and Tori (Jeff) Schaffer of Kingwood, Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Patty Paulsen; niece Emily Paulsen and nephew, Shawn Benson.

Green flameless cremation rites have been accorded.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Terry’s memory to the USO (United Services Organization), The Arbor Day Foundation or to an Animal Shelter of the donors choosing.

Special appreciation is extended to OSF Hospice in Ottawa for the great care and compassion.
